General Manager Fundraising & Corporate Affairs - St John NSW

St John NSW is a registered NFP that has been delivering first aid and community medical support services to the NSW community for over 130 years. The scope of these services has grown to include:

  • First aid training, including specialist courses for mental health, high risk work sites, workplaces, and free first aid training to primary school children
  • Event health services, keeping people safe at events right across NSW, ranging from small local gatherings to large scale events
  • Equipping individuals, families and workplaces with high quality first aid products and services
  • Working alongside emergency services organisations in times of need and disasters
  • Workplace health services such as contracted paramedic services and temperature testing

The GM Fundraising & Corporate Affairs reports to the CEO as an Executive Team member of St John NSW. This role will oversee the Corporate Affairs strategy for St John NSW and drive the development and implementation of the Fundraising program with a focus on government relations, campaigns, and partnerships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Shape and implement corporate affairs, partnerships, and fundraising strategies to achieve organisational priorities and drive growth and diversification of revenue streams and donor base
  • Provide updates and reporting on the performance of the corporate affairs and fundraising functions, and ensure government funding programs are achieving targets
  • Identify and cultivate potential new revenue opportunities for government and fundraising partnerships, and diversify and grow existing government funding revenue streams
  • Support CEO and senior stakeholders on media branding, crafting key messages, and developing content for internal communications and presentations
  • Lead the fundraising team and the marketing and communications team to coach, develop and support excellence in their achievements
  • Strengthen team engagement through development of an internal communication platform, and ensure consistent communication of strategic initiatives, marketing updates and projects across the organisation

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Proven success in senior fundraising, marketing, communications, or similar roles – and experience with leading and engaging customer-centric, high performing teams
  • Resilience, and the ability to foster a culture of mutual respect and collaboration across the whole organisation
  • A commercial acumen, and an instinct for networking, business development opportunities and cultivating new partnerships
  • A track record of creating growth-oriented partnerships/fundraising strategies
  • A solid foundation of financial literacy and the ability to create business cases, identify trends and manage budgets
  • Excellent written, and verbal communication skills – be able to influence, negotiate and engage with both internal and external stakeholders
  • A wealth of experience in fundraising practice, theory and current sector and issues and challenges
  • Knowledge of social media, digital marketing and direct marketing including CRM systems
  • The ability to obtain a Working with Children Check and National Police Check
  • A current NSW Driver’s licence and safe driving record
