About the role:

The Family Specialist will work as part of a multidisciplinary team supporting family and carer engagement through the delivery of appropriate therapeutic interventions with young people engaged in services and to ensure that all decisions reflecting the needs of the young person are guided by principles of permanency planning.

This role will require you to:

  • Provide specialist consultation, assessments, treatment plans and intervention in relation to family work
  • Support stakeholders with the development of clinical formulations and Behavioural Support and Care Plans
  • Educate and provide appropriate, culturally sensitive support to young people by working closely with both internal and external agencies
  • Consistently maintain accurate case files and electronic records of client attendance and other necessary forms
  • Adhere with all policies, procedures, legislation standards and guidelines to provide best practice care for clients
  • Advocate and work within the community towards trauma integration to promote and engage positive change with our young people!

To be successful in the role you will be a collaborative and client-focused expert who is committed to providing therapeutic support to our young people in care. You will also possess:

  • Degree qualifications in Social Work, Counselling, Family Therapy, or similar clinical discipline with current registration, or eligibility for registration with the relevant professional body/peak association
  • Demonstrated experience within an intensive casework model with children, youth and families
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary team
  • Previous experience in working children and young people with a history of a complex trauma, and an ability to build the capacity of staff to support young people
  • Sound knowledge of risk assessment frameworks applicable to family work
  • Proven capacity to mentor staff providing treatment to young people
  • Working with Children Check
  • Clear National Criminal History Check
  • Unrestricted NSW Driver Licence
  • Eligibility to work in Australia
  • Current and valid First Aid and CPR certification
