The organisation

Ronald McDonald House Charities Greater Western Sydney (RMHC GWS) is a not-for-profit charity which provides accommodation and other support services to seriously ill or injured children and their families and high-risk expectant mothers and their families. Our services include a 60 room facility at Westmead, a family room at Nepean Hospital, the Ronald McDonald Learning Program and the Meals from the Heart program.

Role overview

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) also is responsible for the provision of overall leadership, direction and advice in the development of programs, strategic, operational and financial plans for the Chapter. Managing the external and internal functions and providing consistent high-level communication to the Board on strategy, risk, safety, people, operations, policy and planning. This position is responsive to meeting the requirements and needs of a network of staff, volunteers, community, key hospital partners, donors and supporters.

The possible expansion of the core program delivery includes a new “Internal” house within Westmead Children’s Hospital, new Family Rooms, and a new 60 room facility adjacent to the current building. It is essential that the CEO has experience in growth projects and has the ability to network and build effective relationships at all levels of the organisation and with external stakeholders.

Working together with other CEOs across Australia and the CEO of RMHC Australia, in both formal and informal settings and on formal committees, is imperative for the success of this position, the GWS Chapter and the overall charity across Australia and RMHC Globally.

To be successful in the role you will meet the following criteria

  • Experience of leading and working in a complex organisational structure (including the formal federated structure of RMHC) and appreciates the importance and benefits of collaboration with a diverse range of stakeholders whilst still delivering the impact and business outcomes for their own Chapter in Greater Western Sydney.
  • It is essential that the leader of this Chapter has a ‘people first’ approach so as to commit to the journey of developing a culture that attracts, develops and retains staff and volunteers.
  • Demonstrated experience leading on growth projects.
  • An understanding and support of fundraising.
  • To have a sound understanding and good connections with the health sector as the charity’s programs are an integral component of paediatric and neonatal health care delivery

Additional Requirements for this position

  • Current Working with Children Check and clearance from National Criminal Checks
  • Current Open Driver’s License
  • Some out of hours work may be required
  • Some inter/intra state or international travel may be required

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a background check, a National Police Check and be fully vaccinated.
