The Position

The Facilities Manager is responsible for ensuring BDAC's property infrastructure and fleet assets, supporting the current and future needs of the organisation. The Manager manages the Facilities team members and external contractors.

This role is responsible for overseeing:

  • Building and facilities maintenance and repairs
  • Fleet management
  • Parking and traffic management
  • Security and storage
  • Services contract management
  • Asset registers
  • Tenancy management and leases

And has a key role in organisational:

  • Business continuity and disaster recovery plans
  • Emergency Management

Some Key Responsibilities

Facilities, Property and Tenancy Management:

  • Manage all aspects of BDAC property and facilities management, across multiple sites
  • Oversee property management (leased property) including tenancy arrangements
  • Buildings and grounds maintenance
  • Cleaning
  • Storage and archive arrangements
  • Parking and traffic management
  • On-site signage and waymarking (internal and external to buildings)
  • Office re-locations, office refurbishments, office seating plans and other staff accommodation arrangements
  • Be the primary accountable person for facilities security and respond to after-hours security calls.
  • Contribute to the development of Facilities Masterplan.

Asset Management:

  • Maintain asset register; ensure regular asset stocktakes and security
  • Develop and implement asset acquisition and disposal processes
  • Manage all elements of the vehicle fleet by developing and implementing a fleet management strategy.
  • Manage all operational aspects of the fleet including leasing, administration, and maintenance.

Contractor Engagement:

Actively manage engagement of service providers including:

  • Building and property maintenance, repairs, security, and cleaning.
  • Undertake relevant contract management obligations.
  • Develop, maintain, and manage all contracts and contractual relationships.
  • Lead open market tenders for identified procurements related to facilities.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Extensive experience managing buildings and facilities projects and business-as-usual activities within a medium-size business or community health setting.
  • Experience managing suppliers for buildings, facilities, and site maintenance.
  • Understanding of legislation, policies, and practices relevant to a facilities management function.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; understands and manages the needs and expectations of stakeholders, staff, and clients.
  • Previous experience of project management in a facilities capacity
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a proactively diverse and inclusive organisation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and Aboriginal community needs. Display an understanding of Aboriginal culture

Your Skills, Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of three years of experience in operations management, facilities management, or a related field
  • Experienced in leading a team
  • Experience working in an Aboriginal community-controlled organisation (preferred)

Mandatory Requirements
