The Children’s Resource Worker works to with the Family Safety Team to deliver on initiatives that align to the state-wide children’s resource programs strategic plan.

They are responsible for the development and delivery of programs to children whom may have been affected by Family Violence and or Homelessness.

This position will deliver high level therapeutic work with children and families to assist in children healing from the effects of family violence, as well as assisting BDAC staff through family violence risk assessment, safety planning and secondary consultation.

  • Full time, Fixed Term (12 months)
  • $35.02 hourly rate plus 9.5% superannuation and access to salary packaging

Key selection criteria

  • Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the practice of cultural safety for Aboriginal children and families
  • Strong skills in working using trauma informed therapeutic strategies, incorporating an understanding of the unique experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, intergenerational trauma and other effects of colonisation.
  • Experience with Risk assessment and Safety planning for individuals and families affected by family violence. Experience with using MARAM or willingness to undertake comprehensive training.
  • Ability to conduct individual and group therapeutic activities with children who have experienced family violence and/or homelessness.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently plan and organise own workload, with ability to work independently and in collaboration with other team members.
  • Effective interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, including ability to write funding submissions and clear, concise reports
