Youth Support Worker

We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate and dedicated Youth Support Worker to join our Youth Engagement team. You will be responsible for the coordination, planning and facilitation of youth engagement activities. This is your opportunity to display your knowledge and ability to provide support to vulnerable young people through the provision of assertive outreach, structured open access activities and short term case work.

You will be required to work collaboratively with other youth workers in the program, and with other schools involved with younger people in Belconnen.

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Provide assertive outreach to young people.
  • Plan, prepare and facilitate youth focussed structured open access activities.
  • Provide support referral and advocacy.
  • Provide regular review and ongoing evaluation of outreach and open access activities.
  • Provide short term case work.

What we need from you:

  • Hold a Driver’s license and have access to a registered vehicle with comprehensive insurance.
  • Cert IV minimum qualifications and/or extensive work experience in working with young people.
  • Have capacity to routinely work outside of normal business hours.
  • Demonstrated experience in the planning and facilitation of activities.
  • Possess the personal attributes of optimism, resilience and flexibility.

BCS requirements

  • Employees are required to hold a satisfactory Working with Vulnerable People registration and have this with them at all times whilst employed by BCS.
  • Employees are also required to undertake a National Criminal History Clearance by BCS prior to commencing and every three years thereafter as a condition of employment. Employees are required to advise BCS of any convictions that may affect their eligibility to work or performing the inherent requirements of their position.
  • BCS may require the incumbent to undertake employment screening such as a medical assessment, functional assessment or psychological profile prior to an offer of employment and/or as determined by BCS during employment.
