About the Role

The Lead Educator provides a high standard of Education and Care through the development and implementation of contemporary Early Childhood Education or Middle Childhood Education Programs that reflects the Principles and Practices of the Early Years Learning Framework or My Time Our Place Framework.

Educators in this role are required to manage performance of Educators and ensure that Educators are provided with professional guidance, supervision and performance development planning to ensure they are aware of and working in accordance with their Position Description, the Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations, NQF, NQS, Work Health and Safety Obligations and BCS Policies and Procedures.

Educators in this role are also required to oversee health and safety, quality programming and documentation in line with QA1 and oversight of day to day operations such as (but not limited) medical management, provision of food and water requirements, supervision of children etc.

Essential qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in an approved (ACECQA) Education and Care Qualification.
  • Current approved First aid training as prescribed in the Education and Care Services National Regulations including approved anaphylaxis and emergency asthma management training
  • Current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate

BCS requirements

  • Employees are required to hold a satisfactory Working with Vulnerable People registration and have this with them at all times whilst employed by BCS.
  • Employees are also required to undertake a National Criminal History Clearance by BCS prior to commencing and every three years thereafter as a condition of employment. Employees are required to advise BCS of any convictions that may affect their eligibility to work or performing the inherent requirements of their position.
  • BCS may require the incumbent to undertake employment screening such as a medical assessment, functional assessment or psychological profile prior to an offer of employment and/or as determined by BCS during employment.

Since 1975, Belconnen Community Service (BCS) has been providing a wide range of high quality, integrated and inclusive programs and services to individuals, families, children and young people in the Belconnen and wider Canberra region. In 2019, following extensive stakeholder consultation, BCS drafted a new Strategic Plan for the years 2020-2030, and in 2020, officially changed its name to Capital Region Community Services (CRCS) as an indication of its reach into the wider Capital Region. While the company is currently undergoing this period of transition, its commitment to the people of the Capital Region remains steadfast.
