About the Company
Since 1975, Belconnen Community Service (BCS) has been providing a wide range of high quality, integrated and inclusive programs and services to individuals, families, children and young people in the Belconnen and wider Canberra region. In 2019, following extensive stakeholder consultation, BCS drafted a new Strategic Plan for the years 2020-2030, and in 2020, officially changed its name to Capital Region Community Services (CRCS) as an indication of its reach into the wider Capital Region. About the Role
We are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic individual who can undertake community development initiatives under the direction of the Community Engagement Coordinator.
You will be responsible for engaging with Capital Region Communities to identify new and existing areas of public need, creative connection opportunities, initiatives that promote civic kindness and working with community members to promote, support and grow these initiatives.
This includes sharing information about local kindness initiatives through a variety of platforms to raise awareness and encourage participation.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Engages and consults with communities in ways that lead to positive collaboration and maintains positive professional relationships with communities
- Supports communities to generate and implement locally owned ideas and kindness initiatives
- Undertakes regular research of community kindness initiatives (locally and worldwide) identifying opportunities for organisation’s involvement and expansion
- Generates community led ideas for implementation
- Supports, shares and promotes community led initiatives using public platforms, including Facebook
- Undertakes relevant marketing and event coordination in line with the Community Engagement Strategy and Organisational Strategic objectives
- Initiatives, events and online awareness activities are delivered and reviewed with an innovation and collaboration lens
Essential qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in a field relevant to program area, e.g. Community development, Community Studies, Business Development, health promotion or related field
