Position summary

An exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated and experienced person to manage one of Council's newest facilities, Brimbank Learning Futures (BLF), and support learning and employment pathways for young people and others.

BLF aims to create positive learning experiences alongside young people and adults to enable better education and vocational outcomes. BLF is a part of Council’s Neighbourhood House Unit. 

The position is responsible for implementing the Brimbank Youth Jobs Strategy 2018-2023 and will support the implementation of the Neighbourhood Houses Community Centres Strategy and Action Plan 2019-2024 and the Brimbank Lifelong Learning Strategy 2018-2023 in relation to the learning, training, education and employment of young people and others.

We are seeking applicants who can demonstrate an understanding and experience of contemporary community development principles and youth participation processes including co-design, cultural safety and self-determination. 

A proven ability to develop and manage key strategic partnerships with community, education, business and government to extend program and service options is a key requirement of the position.

The position is responsible for managing staff and may be required to work flexible hours due to operational requirements.

  • Essential: Do you have an understanding of education, learning and employment issues for young people?
  • Essential: Do you have a demonstrated understanding and experience of contemporary community development principles and youth participation processes?
  • Essential: Do you have experience in identifying and working with diverse stakeholders to facilitate collaborative partnerships to improve community outcomes? 
  • Essential: Do you have well-developed project management, communications and problem solving skills?
  • Essential: Do you have demonstrated experience developing and implementing strategic plans?
