Bayley House provides a range of support services for adults with an intellectual disability as they live, learn, create and belong. We support adults who are high functioning to those with complex support needs, to develop and maintain life skills in the areas of their choice.

We currently have opportunities for Casual Instructors (Disability Support Worker) to work in our Community & Life Skills division, where we run a range of activity-based programs. Our staff are matched to programs based on their skills and interests to ensure that we can provide the best continuity of care and experiences for our clients.

The Role

You will be responsible for developing, running and evaluating a range of activity based programs to support our clients meet their life skills goals. You will also complete all administration and reporting requirements and provide day-to-day supports such as assisting with feeding, medication administration and personal care needs.

Selection Criteria

To be considered for the role you will be passionate about supporting people with an intellectual disability and have a broad range of sector relevant experience. This includes:

  • Experience designing, running and evaluating programs for clients;
  • A working knowledge of Disability legislation & the NDIS;
  • A demonstrated commitment to using person centred active support principles in all interactions;
  • Being able to effectively communicate with a range of people using appropriate written and verbal skills and communication tools;
  • A willingness to undertake a range of day-to-day tasks including maintaining client records in our CRM database, assisting with meal preparation, administering medication and personal care;
  • Being able to work in a fast paced environment in a calm manner;
  • A Certificate IV in Disability Services or equivalent qualification or experience;
  • Have completed the NDIS Worker Orientation "Quality, Safety and You" module, or willingness to obtain prior to commencement;
  • Have a cleared NDIS Worker's Screening check prior to commencement;
  • Have Current First Aid Certificate, CPR & full Driver’s License, or willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
  • Be available to work on a casual basis with shift times 8.45am to 3.00pm per day
