About you

Position summary

The University Program Coordinator (UniSA) will be the batyr rep on the University of South Australia campuses, working alongside contacts at the university to deliver the batyr@uni program across faculties, colleges, residential halls, and societies. The university program at UniSA is aimed at reducing stigma and increasing help seeking behaviour for young people and promoting the message that it’s ok to not be ok.

The role will play an important part in nurturing and developing batyr’s relationships with key stakeholders within the university, and in the success of the partnership more broadly. This role will assist in the direction of batyr’s core university program at UniSA, identifying needs and helping the team continue to improve how we do things at batyr’s partner universities.

This role will report directly to the State Manager (VIC/SA) based in Melbourne. 

All candidates will need to hold a current Working with Children Check and Police Check, or be willing to obtain these within one (1) month of starting the role.

Key responsibilities

  • Booking and coordinating batyr@uni programs across all UniSA campuses, and securing attendance at those programs
  • Working with the wider uni team to drive Exec (volunteer) recruitment, as well as oversight, training and guidance of the batyr@UniSA Exec to deliver engaging events and campaigns to reach as many students on campus as possible
  • Working with stakeholders at UniSA to build strong relationships with faculties, unions, societies, accommodation services, counselling services and students
  • Providing reports and feedback to university contacts and stakeholders
  • Ensuring successful completion of key deliverables outlined in the batyr@UniSA partnership agreement, within clearly established timelines, procedures and guidelines
  • Assisting the Being Herd team in the recruitment of students for the Being Herd (speaker training) workshops
  • Attending and/or presenting at workshops, meetings, forums and conferences relating to the program and batyr

Essential selection criteria

  • Demonstrable experience communicating with a wide variety of stakeholders
  • A proven ability to work well in a small team, as well as working independently with little supervision
  • Experience engaging, training and coordinating groups of people
  • Top notch planning, organisation and time management skills, with experience working under pressure
  • Experience coordinating or planning events
  • Public speaking skills, with experience putting together presentations and engaging audiences
  • An ability to be flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced environment 

Desirable selection criteria

  • Experience in preventative mental health, the youth sector, Universities and/or the Not-for-Profit sector
  • Experience using Confluence, Google Drive and Salesforce (or other CRM platforms)
