The BSC is a not-for-profit company established in 2018 to bring together players from across the battery supply chain to ensure that a robust and well-designed battery stewardship scheme is established. Our mission is to facilitate accessible battery recycling services for consumers in metropolitan and regional areas of Australia.

In joining BSC, you join a very small and highly motivated team of self-directed individuals working in partnership to build an innovative and effective national Stewardship Scheme for batteries.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a dynamic Communicator to support the organisation as we move from launch phase, through to sustainable implementation and improvement. You will be responsible for oversight of our current marketing and communications plan, as well as expansion of existing activities.

As someone with a passion for environment and sustainability, you will engage with BSC team, members, government, and the wider industry to facilitate clear communications and sustainable change to battery stewardship.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Ensuring collaborative design and deployment of marketing communications and education strategies to create a paradigm shift
• Managing our external media agency contracts
• Producing exceptional communications for internal and external audiences
• Supporting the executive team to deliver high quality digital documents, presentations, and events
• Ensuring our brands and key messages are optimised by leveraging external partnerships and media opportunities

About you

As both a 'big picture' thinker and a hands on implementer, you have proven experience in creating sustainable change. You take pride in your track record of creating and sustaining momentum in areas of responsibility, as well as your ability to relate to people at all levels. You are excited by the opportunity to work alongside high calibre professionals, creating a unique solution in Australia.

To be successful, you will have 3+ years experience at a senior level in a combination of the following:

• Leadership in corporate or government communications and marketing
• Media, brand management and communications
• Community and industry education
• Environmental, health and safety communications
• Experience in circularity and sustainability

Knowledge of the battery industry is preferred but not essential.

As a professional, your skill set includes:

• Delivery of exceptional outcomes in a virtual team environment
• Excellent writing skills with the ability to create inspiring and compelling narratives
• Business development and relationships management
• Facilitation of collaborative teams, events and solutions
• Development of professional documentation and communication tools using Word (including styles and BSC templates) and Powerpoint (Adobe skills would be beneficial)
• Project management experience including tracking and reporting accountabilities in a manner that can be used for external communications.

The management team operates using collaborative decision-making processes and empowers Directors to show initiative and leadership in their areas of responsibility. In addition, Directors are encouraged to contribute to other strategic discussions and projects and participate in planning of mission critical activities.

This is full time, salaried permanent role, operating in a remote virtual environment. From time to time, in person meetings at our agency offices in Sydney will be required.
