About your new role:

Working closely with residents, their families and the multidisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse leads the assessment of the strengths and needs of individual residents and the development of individualised, person-centred support that promotes physical and emotional wellbeing.

This position provides direct clinical care in accordance with their scope of practice and oversees the delivery of clinical and allied health services for residents, including guidance to clinical and care staff. The Registered Nurse coordinates and has leadership responsibilities for all resident care and works closely with the Clinical Manager in the identification of evidence based best practice and quality initiatives across the facility.

Duties:

  • Encourages a multi-disciplinary team approach that prioritises the physical and emotional well-being of individual residents across the aged care facility.
  • Provides leadership to and directly supervises Enrolled Nurses and Care Partners, empowering them to provide care in a way that ensures the care needs of the resident are met in accordance with clinical needs and care plans.
  • Promotes and supports consistency for individual residents when assigning care, delegating activities and providing directions to Enrolled Nurses, Care Partners and others.
  • Implements and oversees, safe working practices to comply with Work Health and Safety, Food Safety and other relevant legislation and policy, including reporting and investigation of identified hazards and incidents.
  • In conjunction with the Manager Residential Care and Clinical Manager, ensures all assessments are completed for each resident during the admission process, then as required as residents’ care needs change. 

Skills and Experience:

  • Alignment to our Values of Togetherness, Respect, Accountability, Caring and Respect.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Nursing and current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse.
  • Proven high level of clinical competencies with excellent clinical analysis, interpretation, and planning skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a multi-disciplinary team in the delivery of person-centred support.
  • Sound understanding of care assessment and provision within the Aged and Health Care sectors and a commitment to providing a customer-centric approach.
  • Relates to the aged care population with empathy, understanding and respect.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Knowledge of legislation and standards pertaining to the Aged Care sector.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of a wide range of IT applications.
  • Ability to respond to changing priorities and manage a busy workload.
  • An understanding of contemporary Aged Care issues and opportunities.
  • Sound understanding and experience in meeting Aged Care Quality Standards and legislation.
  • Working knowledge of ACFI.
  • Working knowledge of OSH legislation and practice.
  • Willingness to obtain or provide proof of Up-to-date Influenza & Covid-19 Vaccinations
  • Willingness to undergo a pre-employment medical
  • Willingness to obtain National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) check
  • Willingness to obtain or provide proof of NDIS Worker Orientation Module
