About the role

BaptistCare HopeStreet – Inner City is currently seeking a part time or full time Community Development Coordinator | Youth to join our team in Woolloomooloo. The CDC will be part of our inner city team. This role will be working collaboratively in community strengthening in place based community development. Unique to this role is the way we work in partnership with key organisations, and the alignment of our purpose and agenda around these key partnerships.

  • Participating in collective impact working groups, including but not limited to the Woolloomooloo Working Group and the City of Sydney Youth Interagency
  • Volunteer coordination and engagement
  • Developing and coordinating programs and services that support youth experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness. Key focus areas include:
  • Outreach and engagement to youth and families within the Woolloomooloo catchment
    • Building a sense of belonging and social inclusion
    • Helping arrange access to case management where necessary
  • Participating in community development work in Woolloomooloo and surrounding inner city suburbs.
  • Increasing child protection and advocacy
  • Facilitation and implementation of Urban Education program
  • Ensuring service users are treated with respect, equality and dignity and to assist in engaging the community in a professional manner, free of any bias.

About you

The successful candidate will have a Certificate IV in Community Services or related field or at least three years demonstrable experience in the Community Services sector. You will have experience in working with disadvantaged people. Demonstrable experience of positively representing BaptistCare HopeStreet as well as knowledge of local services and networking with same. You will have a current drivers licence and hold a current Working with Children Check and Police Background Check, or willingness to obtain.
