Banyule City Council are seeking a driven, strategic minded individual to drive biodiversity enhancements across the municipality.

The Biodiversity Officer will be responsible for establishing an integrated and comprehensive approach to the protection and management of biodiversity.

The role will involve:

  • Leading in and assist with, the positioning of biodiversity as an important delivery function for Banyule to expand, complement and add value to current departmental functions and activities
  • Educating, incentivising and enabling action by key stakeholders including Council, staff, public authorities, schools and the community which enhances biodiversity values and outcomes
  • Providing expert advice to Council, advocating for improvements to Banyule’s biodiversity and seeking opportunities for habitat protection and enhancement across Banyule

Skills and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in environmental science, ecology or related field
  • Extensive experience and understanding of biodiversity enhancement and engagement programs within a local government context
  • Demonstrated experience and capacity for collaboration across internal teams
  • Experience in and ability to prepare concise project briefs
  • A current Victorian Driver’s License
