Banksia Palliative Care Service has grown significantly over the last 2 years, but especially in the last 6 months! We need a highly motivated, passionate, experienced Social Worker to join our team. While experience in palliative care would be a significant advantage, we are willing to train and educate as we are looking for the right person to help us meet the needs of every palliative person in our region.

The Banksia multidisciplinary community palliative care team provides services in the North-East region of Melbourne, covering the council areas of Banyule, Nillumbik and Whittlesea. The office is situated in Heidelberg.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • A commitment to providing best practice, holistic psychosocial care to clients (and families and carers) living with a progressive terminal illness
  • An undergraduate degree in Social Work, with a minimum of 4 years post graduate experience
  • Experience working in a community based organisation (preferred but not essential)
  • Experience in providing a diverse range of psychosocial services across a diverse demographic, including, but not limited to development of ACPs, counselling including bereavement counselling, socioeconomic support and advice, etc. Experience working with children and young people would be an advantage.
  • A demonstrated ability to prioritise workload and respond effectively to competing demands while maintaining accountability
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and will be motivated by working as part of a cohesive, respectful and dynamic multidisciplinary team
  • Capacity to be flexible in availability would be an advantage, recognising aspects of the service may be conducted outside of routine office hours (for example group work)
  • Moderate to high level computer skills and IT capacity (essential)
  • Agreed to undertake a National Police Check and Working-with-Children certification
  • A current and unrestricted driver’s license
  • Permanent Australian residency
