This position requires an experienced individual who has an in-depth knowledge of community housing, preferably youth housing. Someone who can demonstrate youth casework, engagement and community development skills. The Youth Case Worker will support young people to successfully engage in our Specialist Youth Homelessness Service (SYHS) with the aim of exiting them out of homelessness and into secure, long-term housing.
The successful applicant will provide professional and effective case management to at-risk young people who may be experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless. The worker will provide services to young people that match with BABI’s mission and values, align to Department of Housing and Public Works Service Agreement and BABI’s general and SYHS policies and procedures. They will also actively coordinate and promote youth life and personal development skills. Liaising with young people’s family and caregivers, support networks, key stakeholders, government and non-government organisations and community networks. The role also requires data entry, reporting and other administration tasks.
The permanent part-time position would suit a skilled worker with qualifications in youth work, social work, human services and/or other relevant disciplines. A minimum of two years’ experience in case managing at-risk young people, preferably in a not-for-profit agency environment is also required. The position is paid in accordance with the Queensland Community Services and Crisis Assistance Award – State 2008 (TPEO) at Level 4.1.
