    If you’re passionate about developing the activism and leadership of young workers in a multi-faith context and looking for a role where you can make real social change this is an exciting opportunity for you. Reporting to the National Mentors Team, this role will lead the leadership development program of the YCW, to empower young workers to become leader-activists in their own lives, places of work and in the communities where they live.

    Working closely with the National Team this position collaborates with local leaders, mentors and YCW workers to deliver a program of in-person and online workshops aimed at increasing the impact of action and the activism of young leaders in the YCW.

    The successful applicant will possess a strong understanding of social change methods and organising techniques and experience designing and facilitating leadership and training programs for a range of participants. You will have a strong understanding of the issues that are important to young workers and high level communication and interpersonal skills (written, face to face, telephone, social media), including an ability to adapt content and write for different mediums and audiences.

    Please note: this role can be based in Sydney, Adelaide, Melbourne or Perth and we are open to negotiating location preference.

    THIS ROLE WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

    • Leading the implementation of the leadership development and training priorities of the YCW.
    • Design and facilitate in-person and on-line training sessions for leader-activists, YCW workers and mentors.
    • Mentor the team of YCW workers (based in different cities) to advance the principles, values and objectives of the YCW, and particularly the engagement and of young workers in the action and activities of the YCW.
    • Support and expand the number of mentors in each city where the YCW is organised.
    • Develop contemporary resource materials.
    • Assist with the submission of training related grant applications and other fundraising projects.
    • Coordinate communications, forums and other interactions with YCW members and/or stakeholders as required.

    The YCW is an international Movement of young workers with roots in the Catholic Church, having been founded by Belgium Catholic Priest, Fr.Joseph Cardijn in 1924. Today, the YCW welcomes young people of all faiths backgrounds and none and takes action on a range of issues facing young workers such as work rights, temporary visas, climate change, gender equality and mental wellbeing.     The YCW is an independent Movement, run by young workers themselves with the support of mentors. The basis of the YCW is a process of action-reflection known as see-judge-act which is used for the development of communities of young workers, leader-activists and bringing about lasting change in all spheres of life.
