  • Hours: 6 - 12 hours per week
  • Remuneration: hourly wage - $29.23 (including casual loading) + super
  • Start date: late July - early August

We’re looking for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander young person, who is passionate about protecting country from the causes and impacts of climate change and building the power of young people, to join our staff team.

Our communities are on the front lines of climate change impacts and resistance, and there’s never been a more critical time to tell and elevate stories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leadership in protecting country and fighting for climate justice.

About the role

The Seed Regular Donor Call-outs Team is responsible for growing Seed’s most sustainable form of funding. You’ll be part of a growing fundraising team, bringing in regular donations to fuel Seed’s work. This will involve phoning our database to give supporters updates on Seed campaigns and asking for regular donations. Being comfortable making lots of phone calls, building relationships and asking for money is key.

Seed is Australia’s Indigenous Youth Climate Network. We are a movement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people protecting country from the impacts of climate change and fossil fuel extraction. We do this by running campaigns that work to protect country, while also building the capacity of our young people to be a part of creating positive change.

Seed is a branch of the Australian Youth Climate Coalition (AYCC). We are a national network led by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people, with a small team of staff, volunteer state coordinators and over 100 volunteers from every state and territory.

Your key responsibilities

  1. Calling Seed’s supporters, explaining our importance and asking for regular donations
  2. Consistently meet minimum KPIs
  3. Maintain Seed’s supporter database
  4. Staying up to date with Seed campaigns and the climate justice movement

Skills, experience and who you are

  • You’re an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander young person who is passionate about protecting country and working with young people to lead change in their communities
  • You have experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, in particular young people
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to be engaging on a phone call
  • Fundraising experience or experience meeting targets within other positions
  • Commitment to the mission and values of the Seed and awareness on the issue of climate justice
  • Trustworthy, reliable, able to work independently and a quick learner
  • CRM or NationBuilder experience highly regarded

We are a youth organisation, so we don’t expect you to be an expert at everything. Even if you only meet some of these requirements, but you think you’re right for the job and are ready to learn, we’re keen to hear from you. The role will be developed to meet the skills and experience of the right candidate.

  • This is a casual position on an ongoing basis
  • A probation period will apply for the first 1 month of your employment. During this time the employer will assess your progress and performance in the position
  • This is intended to be an ongoing casual position based in Melbourne, however remote work will be considered for the right applicant
