About the Role

To build stable and sustainable funding, the AYCC is on the lookout for passionate and dedicated fundraisers!

Our callers build strong relationships with our supporters in order to bring them onboard our Champions of Change program, where they can contribute to funding AYCC's amazing campaigns and trainings through flexible and manageable regular donations.

This includes mostly early afternoon - evening work, and would be perfectly suited to dedicated and passionate young people looking to get a head start in fundraising for climate justice.

We are looking for people who are confident and engaging communicators, with attention to detail and understand the importance of securing donations for a non-for-profit; and with a passion for and literacy in climate justice. In addition to the above, applicants should be self directed and able to take initiative to improve, as well as being willing and comfortable to actively problem solve.

Previous fundraising experience and/or experience volunteering within NFPs would be highly regarded but is not essential.

About AYCC

The AYCC is a non-profit, non-partisan organisation building a movement of young people to protect our future from climate change. We are Australia’s largest youth-led organisation and one of the most effective organisations dedicated to tackling climate change, with hundreds volunteers nationally and more than 200,000 supporters. We have three major areas within AYCC:

  • Campaigns to solve the climate crisis: we run strategic campaigns to make sure Australia moves from fossil fuels to renewable energy as quickly as possible while putting justice at the centre. Our campaigns include:
    • Stopping dangerous gas expansion, by stopping the finance new projects require and eroding the social licence of the fossil fuel industry
  • Climate Solutions and investment in our communities to tackle two crises at once
    • Solidarity with communities on the front lines of fossil fuel extraction and climate change impacts
  • Movement building: our movement is radically inclusive, equitable and accessible, and prides itself on its diversity and scale. To be able to win on our campaigns we know we need young people taking action everywhere across the continent. We empower volunteers to take on meaningful leadership and responsibility while supporting each other to learn and grow. And we also prioritise building the power of our movement in the places and communities most critical to enabling us to shift the public story and policy of climate change on this continent.

Your key responsibilities

  1. Call AYCC’s supporters, explain our importance and ask for regular donations
  2. Consistently meet minimum KPIs
  3. Maintain AYCC’s database (NationBuilder)
  4. Staying up to date with AYCC campaigns and the climate movement

Your core skills and attributes

We’re a youth organisation, so we don’t expect you to be an expert at everything. We’re not looking for someone with any particular qualifications or educational background. If you fit a few, but not all of the below attributes, we encourage you to apply! We’re looking for someone who:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate in an engaging and friendly phone manner
  • Fundraising experience or experience meeting targets within other positions
  • Commitment to the mission and values of the AYCC and awareness on the issue of climate justice
  • Trustworthy, reliable, able to work independently and a quick learner
  • CRM or NationBuilder experience highly regarded

Note: If you don’t have all the skills listed above, but you are willing to learn and are passionate about working with young people and climate justice - please apply!

The AYCC is a youth-led organisation with an exemption from the Anti-Discrimination Act. As such, all staff and core volunteers are under 30, and we seek applications only from those under 30.
