A small allowance is provided to help with costs of working remotely. You will also join a network of thousands of current and past Australian volunteers.

ABOUT THE ASSIGNMENT

Lautoka School for Special Education (LSSE) was officially registered in 1970 and it's program is aimed at providing each student with a comprehensive balanced program, while suited to their learning needs and level of development. LSSE consists of students with all types of disabilities and teachers are engaged with quality education which is based on the fine motor skills, gross motor skills, functional skills, daily life activities, academic improvement as per need, sporting and aesthetic achievements and laying foundations of sound moral and human values. The school aspires to support individuals to be independent and are seeking support and assistance from a remote volunteer, to assist with general methods for collaborating with teachers to improve communication skills in the classroom for children with speech and language disorders.

  • You will develop online resources for speech therapy for use by teachers in the classrooms as well as introduce the use of teletherapy sessions with teachers in building their capacity in speech therapy.
  • You will need tertiary qualifications in speech pathology, or speech and language therapy. Additionally you will bring experience working with children with disabilities in an educational or health setting.
  • Contribute to ensuring inclusive education, leading to improvements in the livelihoods of young people with disabilities in Fiji.
