About the Partner Organisation: 

Sigatoka Special school focuses on educating children with special needs who have various disabilities to be independent members of society. The School supports children with language based learning disabilities, speech impairment, autism, down syndrome, and specific seminary disabilities. Teachers provide students with innovative education and life skill programs to support them for a life outside school. The school currently runs a computer suite with Special Educational Programmes to further enhance their education needs. Life skills include basic sewing, cooking/bakery, gardening, art and craft. As school continues to grow, it provides ever unseeing challenges that need to be advanced so they can continue to provide the excellence in education and life skills to the children in the community. The school is seeking a speech pathologist with general methods for collaborating with teachers to improve communication skills in the classroom for children with speech and language disorders. This assignment will provide online support to teachers through trainings, discussion and networking on zoom platform. 

About the Position: 

• You will develop strategies that provide a framework for classroom teachers for Teacher Self-Assessment of Instructional Communication and Techniques and Strategies for Improving Language and Listening Skills in the Classroom. Additionally you will identify how teletherapy sessions can be introduced to the school.
• You will need a qualification in speech pathology, or speech and language therapy as well as experience working with children with disabilities in an educational or health setting. 
• You will gain an opportunity to empower local teachers to be able to use the best techniques for students, and further support student education.
