About the assignment

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is a leader in the global movement to achieve zero hunger. WFP in Sri Lanka works in close partnership with the government, UN agencies, development partners and others to provide support through a range of food security and nutrition interventions. Social behaviour change communication is a new area in the Sri Lankan context and there are no University or professional courses in the field. While the country has been classified as ‘middle income’, dietary practices and social norms have created malnutrition issues over the years. To address this, a significant part of WFP’s work in Sri Lanka will address this and is partnered with the Disaster Management Centre of the Government of Sri Lanka to be underpinned with COVID-19 response activities.

  • You’ll be assisting the WFP Nutrition Team to document strategies, plans and implement reports as well as contribute to the dialogue to better understand SBCC strategies
  • You’ll need qualifications in behavioural studies, anthropology, visual communications or similar and previous experience in nutrition relation social behaviour change work
  • You’ll gain the opportunity to support the strategies to assist in the reduction of malnutrition in Sri Lanka 

Allowance: $30

Allowance figure is per week, allowance figures are $30 (full-time), $18 (part-time)

Special requirements

The Partner Organisation’s preference for this role is part-time (less than 25h per week) -Federal Police Check must be completed during application - Video response interview must be completed as part of this application
