We’re looking for a Mechanical Engineering Course Developer who volunteer remotely (from home) for 3 months.

About the Partner Organisation: 

The Faculty of Science and Technology is part of the Solomon Islands National University. The faculty has three schools, namely the School of Science, the School of Built Environment and the School of Transportation. The School of Science offers training for pure science and science related courses for teaching careers. The School of Built Environment (SBE) offers courses/ programs for TVET (Technical & Vocational Education & Training) and Engineering training. The SBE Engineering training department offers training in construction management, surveying, civil engineering and photovoltaic energy systems. The average student intake per year is around 400 and the function of SBE is to train trades people to serve in the Government and industries in the private sector.

Newly developed courses in Mechanical Engineering have not been mapped to AQF standards. Current staff do not have the capacity to review the draft course and revise it to meet those standards. The volunteer will assist staff and capacity build them to ensure requirements are met into the future. 

About the Position: 

  • You’ll be reviewing the draft Mechanical Engineering course to ensure a fit with AQF standards and supporting staff to ensure compliance.
  • You’ll need a Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, 5-8 years work experience and experience in AQF standards and teaching.
  • You’ll have the opportunity to build the capacity of the University and the staff to support students in the Solomon Islands.
