ABOUT THE ASSIGNMENT

The vision of the Samoa Cancer Society (SCS) is for a cancer free Samoa with a mission to be committed to working with partners, stakeholders and the whole community to minimise the incidence and impact of cancer through support services, evidence based advocacy, awareness raising and prevention programs. In reviewing its strategic plan (2018-2020), it was identified that to help SCS communicate effectively and meet core organisational objectives, an effective communications strategy was needed to be designed. This will be the first ever communications strategy to be developed since the establishment of the Samoa Cancer Society in 1998. As a non-government, non-profit organisation SCS continues to find opportunities for sustainability through stakeholders engagement and fundraising activities. Recently it has increased its efforts towards project funding opportunities with proposals presented to international donors to address some of the gaps in the SCS services to the community. SCS aims to engage effectively with stakeholders, demonstrate the success of their work, ensure people understand what they do and change behavior and perceptions where necessary.  SCS therefore, is seeking the support of a remote volunteer to help them to reach this goal.

  • In this remote assignment, through consultation with stakeholders, you will review and enhance the existing 'Proposed Stakeholders Engagement Plan' to develop a marketing and communications strategy. You will further support SCS to launch the approved strategy.
  • To be successful for this role you will need to have a bachelor or masters degree in business, marketing and/or communications. You will bring experience in marketing and communications within a health setting.
  • Make a positive contribution to Samoa Cancer Society and help them to raise awareness and support the local community.
