We’re looking for a Grant Writer who can volunteer remotely (from home) for three months. Join the Australian Volunteers Program to contribute to sustainable development across the Central and North Pacific Region.
SNYC is Samoa's focal point for youth advocacy and youth development issues. It is an independent organisation which relies on donor funding for survival and to be operational. It was initially developed under the Ministry of Women, Community and Social Development before being made an independent organisation in 2012. SNYC is made up representatives from each of the villages in Samoa, altogether there are close to 200 members, as of 2019.
Despite limited funding, SNYC has been surviving through collaborations with other partner organisations both in Government and Civil society. The organisation is governed by its board which is made up of 11 members, and in the past had a Secretariat Office with at least 3 full time staff. Currently there are no staff but it is looked after by the Chair, 2 Board members and 3 other Organisation members, with the Treasurer and Chair leading the organisation at this time. They are driving the volunteer program as well as an intern program for the organisation to assist with its administration over this period.
At this stage they are in dire need of technical assistance to focus, not only identifying grant opportunities for the Organisation, but most importantly to support the implementation. At the same time as this, the volunteer would capacity build the local workers skills with their experience in writing these proposals, to ensure SNYC is exploring as many opportunities as possible.
We actively support and encourage people of all backgrounds and abilities to volunteer internationally and aim to make the program as accessible and inclusive as possible. Find out more.
