About the organisation

Women in Business Development Inc. (WIBDI) is dedicated to strengthening village economies in Samoa in ways that honour indigenous tradition, use tradition and modern technology and promote fair trade. Since 1991, WIBDI has been committed to empowering and equipping rural families to cultivate sustainable businesses that maximise farm-based resources. This assignment has been developed to assist in building the capacity of the organisation’s staff in data and media. A data/media personal in an NGO ‘Non-Government Organisation’ is not an easy position to fill, and usually applicants are young and have very little experience. The position of an experienced mentor will be extremely important to support the capacity development of a new Data/Media Officer.

About the Role

  • In this role you will support the Data/Media Officer to be able to master different media platforms as well developing confidence in managing the database, which is crucial to the organic and fair trade program and the trace-ability of products going out to export markets. You will also help to implement or design data strategies and systems to enhance WIBDI projects.
  • To be successful in this role you will have a masters or bachelor degree in Communications or Journalism (or other relevant field). You will also have demonstrated experience in data management and media communications (including social media).
  • Make a positive contribution, supporting Women in Business Development Inc. to strengthen their work in supporting women and local communities of Samoa.
