About the Role

This is a newly-created, high-level role for a passionate and experienced professional. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will lead implementation of Child and Client Protection, Positive Behaviour Support and Privacy policy and procedures across a diverse organisation spanning both Education and Disability sectors. Working together with People, Quality and Operations teams, you will drive Autism Queensland's safety and wellbeing culture.

This position is being offered on permanent, full-time basis and is based at Sunnybank Hills..

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead implementation and ongoing review of the Autism Queensland (AQ) Client Safety Strategy
  • Develop, deliver and/or facilitate privacy, child and client safety training 
  • Oversight complex client case management, 
  • Coordinate AQ’s responses to the Disability Royal Commission 
  • Manage the Lead Behaviour Support Specialist role and implementation of the Positive Behaviour Support Capability Framework across AQ
  • As Privacy Officer, oversight the management of internal and external privacy enquiries and complaints
  • Maintain all Privacy, Child and Client Safety policies and procedures 
  • Maintain currency of knowledge in the fields of ASD, disability and special education, 

Skills & Experience

  • Degree qualification in relevant field – e.g. Health or Human Services, Social Work, Education, Allied Health
  • Minimum of five years’ postgraduate professional work experience
  • Minimum of five years’ work experience in a child or client protection role including a minimum of three years in a senior leadership role
  • Demonstrated current working knowledge of Child and Client Protection and Australian Privacy legislation and of the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills including report writing
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and proactively across teams, including at executive level
  • Knowledge and practical understanding of privacy dispute resolution and complaint-handling processes

Highly-regarded

  • Post graduate training and/or professional development in child and client protection responses
  • Change-management and/or team leadership and management experience
