We are looking for Psychologists to join our team of transdisciplinary specialists within the First Steps for Autism Early Intervention program. About our First Steps for Autism Program

The First Steps for Autism Early Intervention program for children aged 0-7yrs, is designed to help and support families to be empowered to teach their children skills for everyday living in the areas of communication, social interaction, sleeping, toileting and managing mealtimes. Our Early Intervention Program is tailored to meet the individual needs of each child and their family to maximise their potential and build a bridge between their strengths and difficulties.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Become a valued member of the team to develop and implement therapy goals to maximise participation of the individual across home, school and community environments.
  • Implementation of comprehensive clinical assessments.
  • Execution of direct, individual, and group therapy with allocated caseload.
  • Work in close collaboration with parents, teachers, therapy assistants and community organisations to facilitate the participation and inclusion of the child with Autism.
  • Contribute professional skills and knowledge, including discipline specific expertise to their colleagues within the team.
  • Consultation and training with parents and community organisations to facilitate the participation and inclusion.

Essential Criteria

  • Passion for supporting people with Autism to lead the life they desire
  • A tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology or Occupational Therapy
  • Relevant registration with APHRA or Speech Pathology Australia (SPA)
  • Experience working effectively with children and/or adults with a range of disabilities
  • Strong clinical experience working in the field of disability services
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Sound problem-solving and organisational skills
  • Ability to contribute to a transdisciplinary team
