About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists for a Coordinator to join the Individual Options service within the Short Breaks for Children program. The Short Breaks for Children program provides weekend and school holiday breaks for children and adolescents with autism from 6 to 18 years of age.

Hours of work will be confirmed at interview. To meet the needs of children with autism and their families flexibility with hours is important, with days of work including Saturday and occasional Sundays when required.

You will:

  • Be responsible for coaching and mentoring the dedicated support staff within the service whilst supporting families and advocating on behalf of individuals with Autism
  • Oversee a high standard of support while ensuring families and the person with Autism are at the centre of all service planning and delivery
  • Work closely with the Team Leader to lead a team of dedicated support staff
  • Work in close collaboration with parents, families and community organisations to facilitate the participation and inclusion of the person with Autism

Key Requirements

  • A tertiary qualification in Human Services discipline
  • Demonstrated knowledge of person centred and inclusive approaches
  • Passion and commitment to make a positive difference to people with autism and their families Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent time management, problem-solving and organisational skills
  • Demonstrated experience in staff supervision and team development
  • A current unrestricted driver’s license
