The Community Living program assists individuals with Autism to live in the community, either sharing their home with other people who also have Autism, or more independently, in their own home. The Community Living team provides support in a variety of different ways in order to meet the specific needs of each person with Autism. The Autism Association places high value on the notion of “home” and strives to make sure that each person has a lifestyle that is built around their individual preferences and enhances opportunities to be part of a meaningful community.

About the role

We are seeking a Permanent Full Time Coordinator in our Community Living program. The Coordinator will be responsible for coaching staff, supporting and advocating on behalf of the individual with Autism and ensuring that all of their lifestyle goals are met.

The successful candidate will:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to ensuring that the person with Autism is at the centre of all service planning and delivery.
  • Ensure all support provided is of a high standard and that the opinions of families are highly valued.
  • Lead a team of dedicated staff.

Key requirements

  • Experience in the disability sector
  • Tertiary Qualifications in a Human Services discipline (minimum Certificate IV)
  • Demonstrated experience in staff supervision and development
  • Demonstrated knowledge of person-centred approaches to service provision
  • Ability to obtain a police clearance, first aid certificate and a working with children card and have a current influenza vaccination
  • Hold a full C class driver's license and the ability to show a good driving history

Please note: due to on-call requirements you will need to live within a reasonable distance of the Perth Metro area so as to undertake your on-call duties in a safe and efficient manner. To be considered you will also be required to have a current influenza vaccination, full driver’s license, and a suitable vehicle along with the required worker screening checks to work in the disability sector.
