Australian Wildlife Conservancy (AWC) is the largest private (non-profit) owner of land for conservation in Australia, protecting endangered wildlife at 31 locations in which we own or manage in partnership, covering a total of more than 6.5 million hectares in iconic regions such as the Kimberley, Cape York, the Top End and Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre. With a focus on practical land management, informed by world-class science, AWC is implementing a dynamic new model for conservation.

Seven of these areas are in the Kimberley region. Mornington, Marion Downs, Charnley River – Artesian Range Wildlife Sanctuaries. Tableland in Partnership with Yulumbu Aboriginal Corporation, Dambimangari Partnership Area, Wilinggin Partnership Area, and Yampi Sound Training Area, contracted by Department of Defence, cover over 4.3 million ha and protect numerous threatened habitats and species.

AWC is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee operations on two of AWC’s most important partnership programs, the Yampi Sound Training Area and the Dambimangari Partnership Area. The role is based in Derby/Kimbolton, with frequent travel across the Kimberley properties for at least 50% of the time.

The successful candidate will have wide range of experience in remote area management and sound knowledge of conservation and land management. You will be capable of working collaboratively with a wide range of people including other AWC and Partnership managers, AWC ecologists, Indigenous Rangers, Traditional Land owners, Government agencies, land management staff and contractors, scientists, volunteers and visitors. and. You must also be committed to helping AWC develop and implement a new model for conservation.
