The partnership between the ADF and community groups is crucial to the success of our programs.

Throughout our 60 years of service to the Australian public, we have reached millions of people in local communities through sporting clubs, health care settings and schools. Our work aligns with the three pillars of National Drug Strategy and is based in solid, international evidence. Our teams work collaboratively to offer educational information, drug and alcohol prevention programs and advocate for strong and healthy communities.

About the role

You will play a pivotal role in supporting the research and evaluation functions of the ADF. Together with other members of your team, you will provide evidence of the impact our programs have for community members and for their continued improvement. As the successful candidate, you will:

  • Write and develop AOD material for a range of audiences and channels, ensuring that sources are appropriately researched and referenced.
  • Staff the 'DrugInfo' phone and email service providing direct advice and information around alcohol and other drug issues, as well as referring inquiries to appropriate support services.
  • Respond to a range of complex requests by performing information searches and/or referring customers to appropriate sources.
  • Work with external organisations and partners in the development and provision of AOD information and advice, maintaining the ADF positions of prevention and harm minimisation.

About you

You'll have a broad knowledge of alcohol and other drug issues and/or public health perspectives, and you will possess excellent time management skills and a demonstrated ability to effectively and independently manage a number of competing tasks and deadlines.

You'll also:

  • Demonstrate critical and analytical thinking and/or research expertise with demonstrated ability to research and summarise information from reputable sources.
  • Possess a high level of written communication, with knowledge of the principles of writing for various audiences.
  • Have excellent customer service skills, with the ability to empathetically respond to callers seeking advice or information around alcohol and drug issues.
