About the role

The Community Development Officer role works with councils, associations and clubs to promote Good Sports and our prevention programs across Queensland. These programs aim to build resilience and strengthen community capacity to reduce alcohol and other drug related harm.

A typical day could consist of supporting communities to plan and implement local approaches to preventing alcohol and other drug related harms, a meeting with a sporting club or community group, before heading back to the office to undertake administration, updating the CRM Salesforce database and managing stakeholders from afar and in person. There may be a requirement to attend or present at a community forum with key stakeholder engagement, whilst using technologies to help engage the audience group.

The role requires someone who is a confident presenter and networker, a self-starter, energetic and has the flexibility to work some evenings and occasional weekends. Self-confidence and communication skills are a must.

The working environment is collaborative, and colleagues are passionate and committed to community capacity building to minimise harm from alcohol and other drugs. This role is at the forefront of working towards making change at a community level.

The successful candidate for this role must be willing to undergo a Working with Children and Police check.
