The Australian Childhood Foundation has a strong reputation for delivery of therapeutic services, professional training and secondary consultation built upon up-to-date evidence based theoretical frameworks including the neurobiology of trauma, attachment and relational theories and child development. This theoretical framework provides the foundation upon which all elements of care and intervention are provided by the Foundations Therapeutic Services.

The Foundation currently provides a range of therapeutic care programs in foster care and residential care in Victoria, South Australia, New South Wales, Western Australia, Tasmania, the ACT and the Northern Territory. The Foundation is responsible for delivering the specialist therapeutic services within these programs which are delivered in partnership with a range of foster and residential care providers.

ACF currently has an exciting vacancy for a Program Manager, Therapeutic Services to lead our team of Therapeutic Specialists and Team Leaders across Hobart, Launceston and Burnie.

In this leadership role you will manage high level partnerships with other NGO’s and Government agencies and will represent the Foundation on key reference groups and other strategically important forums. Working closely with the General Manager, Therapeutic Services you will develop, implement and review the strategic direction for Therapeutic Services in Tasmania and assist in the preparation of submissions to grow the activity in this program area.

You will be responsible for developing and implementing quality assurance and program development measures to ensure that program performance remains of a high quality and reflect best practice.

As this is a state-wide Program Manager role, inter and intra travel will be required.

Your primary duties:

  • Provide sound leadership and supervision to a multidisciplinary team.
  • Support the development and implementation of a strategic plan for the direction and growth of Therapeutic Services.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships at a senior level with key stakeholders including partner agencies.
  • Support the development and implementation of a strategic plan for generating additional funding for the program.
  • Develop relevant program documentation in consultation with General Manager.
  • Support the development of new joint initiatives with government and non-government partners to enhance outcomes for children who have experienced abuse, neglect and family violence.
  • Chair and run Therapeutic Services Review Panel meetings and statewide Therapeutic Services meeting.
  • Manage the implementation of contracts and projects with a diversity of objectives and methodologies.

About you - Key Selection Criteria:

  • An appropriate tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in the area of child abuse and/or in working with children and young people.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team of clinical practitioners from a range of professional disciplines.
  • Experience in program development, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated experience in submission writing and grant seeking.
  • Sound understanding of what is meant by trauma informed therapeutic services.
  • Capacity to establish and maintain effective relationships/partnerships with other agencies and key stakeholders, both internally and externally.
  • Sound interpersonal skills, including demonstrated capacity to negotiate sensitive and complex issues with specific expertise in conflict resolution.

Remuneration & Benefits:
