The Australian Childhood Foundation (ACF) has a strong reputation for delivery of clinical services, professional training and secondary consultation programs built upon up to date evidence and based upon theoretical frameworks including the neurobiology of trauma, attachment and relational theories and child development. ACF currently has an exciting newly created vacancy for a Chief Financial Officer based in our Abbotsford office on a full-time basis. The Chief Financial Officer will form part of the broader National Executive Team, and will be responsible for the strategic planning, delivery and implementation of all activities in relation to the financial management and sustainability of the organisation.

The Chief Financial Officer will ensure that the National Executive can make informed business and financial decisions and is responsible for aligning the Foundation’s financial strategy with organisational requirements.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this position's primary responsibility is ensuring organisational effectiveness, efficiency and compliance with a range of regulatory standards. It also contributes to the development and implementation of the organisational strategic direction, policies and practices.

Your primary responsibilities:

  • Work with the CEO and as part of the broader National Executive Team to provide strategic recommendations to support the Foundation’s ongoing financial sustainability and growth.
  • Provide advice and guidance to the National Executive Team on best practice financial management and budgeting to ensure organisational objectives are achieved.
  • Develop and maintain a service lead culture achieving high levels of satisfaction from internal stakeholders (National Executive, Board, Committees and ACF Staff) and external stakeholders (Funding Bodies, Regulatory Bodies).
  • Manage and ensure the effective and efficient operations of the Finance Team and related program activity.
  • Contribute to the financial sustainability of ACF by managing and regularly reporting on ACF’s positioning and performance.
  • Ensure that the operations of the Finance Teams staff are effective in supporting the national delivery of programs and services provided by the Foundation.
  • Oversee and take ultimate responsibility for activities of all finance and accounting staff.
  • Be responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of all financial and accounting activities across the organisation including budgets, forecasting, program reporting and monthly Board and National Executive reports.

About you - Key Selection Criteria:

  • Degree qualification in accounting/finance or other related areas together with a current CPA or CA registration or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience in business modelling, budgeting and long-term financial planning.
  • Knowledge of the financial operating environment of a not for profit organisation.
  • High level skills and experience including project management, policy development, leadership and supervision.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing complex projects.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including demonstrated capacity to negotiate sensitive and complex issues with specific expertise in conflict resolution.
  • Demonstrated ability to work flexibly and responsively in a dynamic environment.
  • A current drivers licence and working with children check.

Remuneration & Benefits:
