The Australia-Pacific Partnerships Platform (The Partnerships Platform) is looking for motivated and skilled professionals who are keen to make a difference. The Partnerships Platform is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior PFM Specialist with a proven track record in strategic planning, policy development, and partner coordination within public financial management. The ideal candidate is a collaborative, respectful, flexible and resilient PFM specialist with a keen focus on driving economic governance and PFM reforms, particularly in a multi-stakeholder environment.
The Government of Tuvalu has made significant commitments to advancing its economic development strategy as outlined in Te Kete: National Strategy for Sustainable Development 2021 to 2030. The Senior PFM Specialist within the Ministry of Finance (MoF) will be responsible for providing strategic advice, coordinating technical support, and leading the implementation of PFM reforms in alignment with Tuvalu's national and fiscal priorities.
The position is an accompanied, 2-year posting with the option to extend for an additional 12 months. A competitive international standard remuneration package will be offered to the successful candidate, including housing, and return airfares if required for international candidates.
This role is based in Funafuti, Tuvalu; however, for the right candidate, we are open to considering flexible working arrangements, including the possibility of a combination of in-country and remote work.

The Australia-Pacific Partnerships Platform is an Australian Government initiative funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and managed by DT Global. It provides Pacific Countries with a suite of flexible, fit-for-purpose options that support broad governance and stability development outcomes.
For this role, the Partnerships Platform is partnering with the Ministry of Finance (MoF) in Funafuti, Tuvalu. The MoF is charged with delivering the key economic development strategic priority under Tuvalu’s national development plan, Te Kete: National Strategy for Sustainable Development 2021 to 2030, as well as leading on fiscal priorities outlined by the new Government of Tuvalu in February 2024.
We are seeking candidates who can demonstrate a high degree of flexibility, respect, resilience and adaptability, and a preparedness to work with limited resources in a challenging environment, this includes the ability to successfully build and manage relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
To succeed in this role, you will possess tertiary qualifications in Economics, Finance, Public Financial Management, or a related field, with proven experience in developing and implementing PFM strategies, budget planning, and financial analysis in a government or international development context.
You will have a strong foundation in financial systems and economic principles and bring at least 10 years of senior-level experience, demonstrating the ability to lead and coordinate multi-stakeholder initiatives and apply high-level analytical skills, sound judgement, and effective negotiation to achieve strategic outcomes. Experience in development, particularly within Pacific Island countries, will be highly valued.
You will be required to demonstrate a strong understanding of, and commitment to Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI), child protection and the Prevention of Sexual Exploitation Abuse and Harassment (PSEAH), anti-corruption and other DFAT safeguarding policies.
