Parts of Australia are experiencing unprecedented bushfire activity.

Since July 2019, Red Cross teams have responded to more than 20 bushfires and supported 18,600 people in 103 relief and evacuation centres through the efforts of more than 1,590 volunteers and staff.

Be part of one of the largest humanitarian organisations and know that the work you do contributes to improving outcomes for vulnerable people.

  • 12 month maximum term position with the possibility to extend an additional 12 months
  • Full time - 38 hours per week
  • Multiple positions available
  • Flexible locations including Far East Gippsland, Central Gippsland region and North East region

What you will do:

Join our team to build the capacity and capability of our amazing volunteers supporting their regional areas.

You will play a key role working with communities to implement sustainable and effective community disaster preparedness and recovery initiatives.

You will help increase community capacity to support a strong, positive recovery from drought and bushfires and to better prepare for future disaster events.

What you will bring:

  • Previous experience working in emergency services
  • Previous experience working with and developing volunteers would be highly regarded
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a geographically diverse team and to take direction from local, regional and state leads
  • Demonstrated understanding of community development strategies

A Working with Children Check and current driver’s licence are mandatory requirements of this role
