About the role

Reporting to the State Recovery and Preparedness Coordinator, this role will contribute to enhance community resilience in disaster-impacted areas, with a strong focus on Aboriginal communities. The Recovery Project Officer will work to implement and support sustainable and effective community recovery and preparedness initiatives in partnership with a range of stakeholders, including local and state governments, community groups and service providers.

A current and valid Driver Licence is required for this role.

What you will bring

  • Lived experience working with Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people/communities
  • Ability or willingness to learn about disaster management, particularly preparedness and recovery
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver outputs within specified time frames
  • Stakeholder engagement capability and experience building positive relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and as part of a team
  • Good analytical skills - to take a problem and break it down into smaller pieces in order to solve the problem or complete the task
  • Excellent interpersonal skills - to communicate or interact well with other people verbally and in writing

This role is a SCHADS level 4 but remuneration will be dependent on experience. You can also generous salary packaging options that can increase your take home pay by paying certain expenses using pre-tax dollars up to $15,900 a year.
