About the role

As a response to the 2019/20 Blacksummer bushfires, a team of Recovery Officers were appointed in fire effected regions across South Australia. The Recovery Project Officer (Adelaide Hills) will be based in Woodside (and Adelaide city) and develop strong partnerships and relationships with fire effected community members and stakeholders. The role will work with community leaders and volunteers to develop and maintain community led action and provide psychosocial recovery supports and fire preparedness initiatives across the Adelaide Hills region and surrounds.

The Project Officer will work in partnership with the Recovery and Preparedness Coordinator and within the wider SA Emergency Services Team who work across South Australia and Australia. This role requires a highly motivated and proactive person with community engagement/ development experience, excellent networking and time management and organisation skills. The role requires a high level of administrative skill, and the ability to navigate varying organisational online systems including Microsoft Teams platform.

We operate within a dynamic and changing environment within communities with complex needs. The successful candidate will be agile, flexible and able to adapt to arising needs and will provide support to the Emergency Services Team in the case of an emergency activation.

  • Experience in project management: planning, design and evaluation.
  • Strong networking and collaboration skills.
  • Proven administrative, organisational and time management skills.
  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills and reporting.
  • Event management experience highly regarded.
  • Experience in developing and working with volunteers.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a geographically diverse team.
