About the role

This role will play a key role in design, delivery and strategy of the Red Cross Emergency Relief/Safety Net Program, including financial relief, casework, referrals and food assistance across Australia for migrants, refugees and people seeking asylum with no/little access to government support. The role requires a highly qualified and experienced leader, with a background in strengths-based practice, strong operational management, sector collaboration, and the delivery of humanitarian services.

Reporting to the Head - Migration Support Programs, and working closely with Red Cross teams across the country, the Manager is accountable for the delivery, quality and practice of this program, and for nationwide government engagement, advocacy, strategy and leadership in this area to ensure we address barriers to support, access regardless of visa status, and working alongside individuals and communities to build a responsive, dignified and sustainable program,

What you will bring

  • A deep commitment to ensuring dignified, respectful, safe and responsive programs for people experiencing vulnerability
  • Significant experience managing medium to large-scale national programs, grants and contracts in the community services and/or humanitarian sector.
  • Extensive experience in workforce leadership, management, collaboration and coordination.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of quality and practice systems.
  • Highly developed and demonstrated sound judgement, personal management skills with high business acumen, communication and people skills.
  • Strong analytical, planning, budgeting, financial management and reporting skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills along with proficient computer skills (spread sheets, word, email and database).
  • Good knowledge of legislative, policy and practice requirements relevant to refugees and people made vulnerable because of migration.
