Australian Red Cross is part of the world’s largest humanitarian organisation. Our aim is to improve the lives of the most vulnerable people in Australia and across our region.
Do you have experience of seeking asylum in Australia or another country prior to your arrival here? Would you like to share stories of your journey / life with school students and community members to increase understanding of the experiences people seeking safety face?
In Search of Safety is a community education program that engages the Australian public in conversations related to forced migration. This position will work alongside Red Cross staff and volunteers to present interactive workshops that talk with school students and community groups about the asylum seeker journey and the reasons why people seek protection in Australia, whilst promoting compassion, harmony and social cohesion in line with Red Cross Strategy 2022.
The primary role of Lived Experience Community Speakers is to share their experience of seeking asylum and living in Australia to increase understanding and promote connection.
Training, support and development will be provided so no prior public speaking engagement is required.
Be part of one of the largest humanitarian organisations and know that the work contributes to improving outcomes for vulnerable people.
Red Cross offers generous salary packaging benefits and flexible working arrangements.
