Based in the Melbourne CBD, AusBiotech is Australia’s life sciences organisation, working on behalf of members for more than 30 years to provide representation and services to promote the global growth of the Australian life sciences industry. AusBiotech is a well-connected network of over 3,000 members in the life sciences, including therapeutics, medical technology (devices and diagnostics), digital health, food technology and agricultural sectors, holding networking events and large-scale conferences through-out Australia and internationally.

About the Role

The role also offers advice and secretariat support to state and national committees and industry expert panels, delivering professional development and networking opportunities for members across state, national and international arenas.

This full-time role also forms part of our leadership team and will report to the CEO.

The position’s primary responsibilities include:

  • Leading key projects – eg Clinical Trials, Regenerative Medicine Investment
  • Committees and membership related to specific programs
  • Preparing documentation, minutes, reports, submission, representation and other administrative tasks
  • Leading policy advocacy efforts
  • Management of National Conference programs
  • Identify and recruit new members
  • Identify and scope new opportunities
  • Management responsibility

Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role, it is highly desirable that you have:

  • Relevant academic qualifications and/or policy experience
  • A deep understanding of policy and advocacy
  • Negotiation and strategic skills that develop and deliver consensus positions amongst members
  • Excellent written and oral communication, representation and interpersonal skills to interact with internal and external stakeholders including at a senior executive level
  • Demonstrated capacity to manage complex projects and to work constructively with a wide range of stakeholders and small teams
  • An ability to prioritise strategic imperatives
  • An understanding of biotechnology and science
  • Previous work experience in biotechnology, medical technology and/or pharmaceuticals
