About the Role

Provide a range of effective therapeutic interventions using established evidence-based techniques and methodologies of proven effectiveness that is adapted to the individual needs and treatment plan for each client.

The role is a key position within the Social Health team where you will be involved in overseeing psychology and counselling supervision frameworks and developing service delivery efficiencies whilst working within a strong cultural framework.

The Senior Psychologist is responsible for providing leadership and support in the clinical supervision of our ATSICHS Brisbane Social Health team. The Senior Psychologist will assist the social health manager to analyse systems and processes in relation to social and emotional wellbeing services to identify areas for further innovation and integration. This position will be responsible for supervising the Psychologist.

About you

Essential:

  • Qualifications in Psychology with full registration by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA).
  • Minimum 3 (three) years’ experience as a clinical psychologist
  • Ability to work with a culturally and socially diverse group of clients, and to apply a culturally responsive framework to guide interventions, with the support of staff and management.
  • Demonstrated ability in the application of a variety evidenced-based psychology treatment approaches for clients whose presenting problems include: mental health problems (including personality disorders and mental illness), suicidal ideation/behaviour and self-harm, drug and/or alcohol abuse, long-term responses to trauma, and behavioural problems.
  • Demonstrated capability to apply psychological assessment to both clinical formulation and the delivery of intensive therapeutic intervention to clients.
  • Board Approved Status as a Supervisor or eligibility to become board approved supervisor (either Primary or Secondary)
  • Ability to Medicare Bill as a Clinical Psychologist
  • Demonstrated experience in overseeing and coordinating case management processes and procedures.
  • Understand the role of a psychologist within a multi-disciplinary team, particularly within a primary healthcare setting.
  • A willingness to travel across the ATSICHS Brisbane region of services and work across different sites.
  • A willingness to provide therapeutic supports and engagement to patients outside of a clinic environment. 
  • Medicare provider number or eligibility to obtain a Medicare provider number.
  • Ensure information is recorded in an accurate and timely manner through MMEX.
  • Current Professional Indemnity Insurance or ability to obtain this prior to commencing
  • Working with Children’s Card (Blue Card) or be eligible to apply

Desirable, but not mandatory:

  • Previous experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People
  • Previous clinical leadership experience
  • Board approved status in endorsed area of practice for student placement and registrar programs
