The FWS In Home Family Mentor will work with families in partnership with the Family Care Coordinator and Family Counsellor. The FWS In Home Family Mentor will coach parents on how to establish productive early morning and late afternoon/night time routines. The purpose is to help parents manage their household and build the confidence of parents.
The FWS In Home Family Mentor will facilitate and establish practical activities and strategies in the family home that encourage positive bonding and natural nurturing, these include organising whole of family meals, tucking all children in bed individually and spending time to talk about their day, help organising weekend family outings, facilitate parental reading to young children, encouraging parents to help with their children's homework etc.
The FWS In Home Family Mentor will work with parents to provide practical supports in the home. The FWS In Home Family Mentor will operate solely from a coaching and teaching approach – that means – not doing for the family, but rather showing, teaching and reinforcing the learning activities to empower parents. These supports include teaching parents how to budget their income, shop and cook healthy meals, maintain a tidy household etc.
