ATSICHS Brisbane is a not-for-profit community owned health and human services organisation delivering on the unique health and wellbeing needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in greater Brisbane and Logan. We are the largest, most comprehensive Aboriginal Medical Health Service in Queensland.

With a growing early childhood education portfolio that will be seeking more permanent and casual ECT’s over time.

Our services include medical and dental clinics, mums and bubs programs, an aged care home, family and child safety services, social and emotional wellbeing services, kindergarten programs and a youth service.

About the Role

As a key member of the ATSICHS Brisbane team, the Early Childhood Teacher is expected to:

  • In collaboration with an EC educator, take the lead and offer open ended learning opportunities in a play based environment which meets the needs of all children in the group
  • Assist in the development and implementation of early learning programs, using a play- based emergent curriculum approach that meets the individual needs of all children.
  • Meet all relevant legislation and operating guidelines for approved early learning spaces.
  • Document all hazards and risks and show initiative in creating a safe learning environment.
  • Contribute and participate in a diverse and multi-discipline team that promotes a flourishing workplace culture and upholds the ethos and values of ATSICHS Brisbane 

About You

Essential:

  • Bachelor of Education degree (Teaching / Early Childhood).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of children's development across the ages of 0-5 years. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the early year's framework.
  • Broad knowledge and a deep understanding of issues impacting upon Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families access to early childhood services.
  • Decisive listening, influencing and persuasive skills.
  • Working with Children's Card (Blue Card).
  • Current National Police Check.
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certificate (HLTAID004)
  • Sound knowledge of workplace health and safety.
