About the Role:

The Deadly Choices Coordinator is responsible for the evaluation of programs and activities that will reduce chronic disease factors. The programs will lead to smoking cessation, improve levels of nutrition and increase physical activity in designated Indigenous communities.

The Coordinator will lead a small team and ensure the team delivers quality programs, in line with the Regional Action Plan and the Deadly Choices and Smoking Cessation Procedures Manuals.

Support fellow staff in a team environment to build collegiality and a sense of belongingness within the team and ATSICHS family. 

About You:

Essential:

  • Certificate IV or above in a relevant VET qualification 
  • Minimum two (2) years experience in managing a team in a Team Leader, Team Coordinator or Manager role.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet targets and performance outcomes.
  • Interpersonal skills that demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate negotiate and liaise with clients and members of the community.
  • Ability to lead, guide and manage people including the implementation of cultural change and change management opportunities.
  • Ability to work with other health professionals and organisations.
  • Ability to support and manage a continuous improvement model for achieving outcomes.
  • Decisive listening, influencing and persuasive skills.
  • Ability to utilise participative management practices and adopt a supportive, stimulating management style to achieve real and tangible quality outcomes for young people.
  • Ability to travel across the designated region as required
  • Current C Class Drivers Licence (Qld)
  • Working with Children’s Card (Blue Card) or be eligible to apply

Desirable, but not mandatory:

  • Certificate IV in Fitness
  • Diploma or Degree in Psychology / Social Work / Human Services / Sociology / Criminology / Nursing/ Health / Allied Health / Education or Community Services.
  • Experience working in Healthy Lifestyle or similar Health or Community engagement / development programs.
  • Development and delivery of educational and/or group programs.
  • Project management experience.
  • Previous experience in a multidisciplinary health team.
  • Previous experience of working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.
