  • Manage a busy child protection call centre
  • Ensure the delivery of statutory and non-statutory welfare services
  • Provide leadership and professional support to staff

Territory Families, Housing and Communities works with families, individuals and stakeholders to create stronger communities where children experience safe, healthy and happy childhoods, women and men from all cultural and linguistic backgrounds have equal opportunities, and senior Territorians are appreciated and respected.

In the Northern Territory reporting child harm or exploration is compulsory for everyone. Central Intake operates a 24 hour contact centre responsible for managing the Child Protection Hotline, a service where members of the public can raise concerns if they believe a child is being harmed or exploited, or is likely to be in the future.

As the Manager, Central Intake you manage the delivery of statutory and non-statutory welfare services, provide effective leadership and professional support to staff, and manage the human and financial resources of a busy contact centre. In addition you are required to develop and maintain effective, collaborative partnerships and strategic alliances with internal and external stakeholders.

To be successful, you require an Australian tertiary qualification, eligibility for membership of a relevant professional body and extensive post-graduate experience in the delivery of statutory child protection or youth justice welfare services, including experience in management, supervision and coordinating of a team. Demonstrated strategic, conceptual and analytical skills, including the ability to lead, motivate and support staff to achieve outcomes, build effective teams and relationships is essential. In addition, you will have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, family and community structures, an ability to communicate and work in a culturally safe manner, and a willingness to travel remotely.

In return, you will be offered support to grow and develop your career, excellent progression opportunities, a chance to make a real impact to the lives of children and the benefits of a competitive salary, 6 weeks recreational leave and 3 weeks personal leave, and the opportunity to enjoy the unique lifestyle of living in the Northern Territory.
