Territory Families provides support services across child protection, domestic and family violence, youth justice services, multicultural affairs and senior’s recognition. The agency brings together many of the key functions that work together to create stronger communities where children experience safe, healthy and happy childhoods, women and men from all cultural and linguistic backgrounds have equal opportunities, and senior Territorians are appreciated and respected.

As Director Family Services you lead and manage family support, child protection and out of home care services across the Greater Darwin Region, ensuring professional standards, facilitating ongoing improvement and proactively leading internal and external collaboration to achieve best outcomes for children, young people, families and communities. Effectively manage Territory Families’ resources and ensure compliance in accordance with relevant legislation including, though not limited to the Public Sector Management Act 2012 and Financial Management Act 2014.

This is a key management role that requires you to have tertiary qualifications in social work or psychology, eligibility for membership of a relevant professional body and extensive knowledge of contemporary issues and initiatives in relations to child and family welfare practices and strategic directions. Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to think conceptually is essential, as is the capacity to develop practical, creative and innovative solutions to complex strategic issues. In addition, you will be comfortable building relationships, influencing outcomes and working constructively within a culturally diverse setting.

To ensure your success, you will be supported by an Executive Director that will assist and guide you in delivering a range of human welfare services to children, young people, families and communities across the Greater Darwin Region.
