Industrial Officer

Australian Services Union NSW and ACT Services Branch

The Australian Services Union (ASU) is a progressive, active and growing union. We are committed to organising members to grow their union and win campaigns that make a real difference for workers and contribute to a fairer society.

This position would suit a person currently employed as an industrial officer, a law graduate who is looking to gain experience in the trade union movement or an organiser who is interested in developing their advocacy and dispute resolution skills.

The position will be working primarily with members in the social and community services division of the ASU, who achieved historic wage increases in the ASU Equal Pay Case.

The successful applicant will be expected to share the values of the ASU; represent members in workplace issues and grievances; have some experience in appearing before tribunals or a willingness to develop these skills; have high level written and verbal communication skills and excellent attention to detail; work well under pressure and have the ability to meet deadlines; and have a working understanding of relevant legislation. Please address all of these requirements in your application to ensure that you are considered for the role.

Please note that a Practising Certification is not required or provided for the position and that we are not able to offer Practical Legal Training.

If you have any questions about the position, please contact Louise Craig on 02 9310 4000.

The ASU provides generous working conditions. The salary range for the position is $80,306 - $98,936 (depending upon experience) plus superannuation.
